Frank Blackfire, born in Essen, is a significant German guitarist and songwriter, known for his contribution to the thrash metal bands Sodom, Kreator, and Assassin. He joined Sodom in 1986 and played a key role in the albums “Persecution Mania” (1987) and “Agent Orange” (1989), which are considered thrash metal classics. His aggressive and technical style have significantly defined Sodom’s style. In 1989, he switched to Kreator and contributed to “Coma of Souls” (1990) “Renewal” (1992) Cause for Conflict (1995). His time with Kreator was marked by more experimental musical approaches. He also released a solo album, “Back on Fire” in 2015.
In 2018, he returned to Sodom and worked on the album “Genesis XIX” (2020).
Frank Blackfire has had a major impact on the thrash metal scene and remains an active musician. His technical skill and innovative style make him a role model for many young guitarists
