Silent Winter is a melodic Heavy-Power Metal band formed in Volos, Greece in 1995. Drawing strong influences from renowned acts such as Stratovarius, Helloween, and Gamma Ray, the band initially gained recognition with their demos, “Silent Winter” (1995) and “War Of An Angel” (1997).
During their active years from 1995 to 1997, Silent Winter participated in numerous festivals and concerts. Unfortunately, the band disbanded in 1999 due to unavoidable circumstances affecting the members. However, after an extensive hiatus of 19 years, they made a triumphant return in 2018 with their self-produced EP titled “The War Is Here.” This release featured four fresh compositions and a remixed track from their second demo, “Far Away,” accompanied by a visually striking music video directed by Bob Katsioni. The EP garnered positive acclaim and reviews from audiences worldwide.
In 2019, Silent Winter signed a contract with Athenian Sonic Age Records, leading to the release of their debut album, “The Circles of Hell,” in late May of that year. The album received an overwhelmingly positive response globally, particularly in countries like Germany and France. Its distribution was carried out in many points of sale by Pride & Joy. The album’s quality prompted glowing reviews from both Greek and European publications, with several websites even dubbing it one of the top releases of 2019. Additionally, the band collaborated with Haris Kountouris, who took charge of their 3D lyric videos, having previously worked on projects for Sabaton.
In 2020, Silent Winter released a fresh single entitled “Nightfall,” accompanied by a limited edition 7″ clear vinyl release in March of that year.
Their second full-length album, “Empire Of Sins,” was released via Pride & Joy Music on March 26, 2021. The album was meticulously recorded at Kalovidouris Sound Studios in Volos, Greece, between July and October 2020. The mixing and mastering were expertly handled by Dionysis Christodoulatos at CFN recording studio in Athens, Greece. The album cover was crafted by the talented artist Kyriakos Balanos. Notably, the album features a remarkable metal rendition of Belinda Carlisle’s chart-topping hit, “Leave A Light On.”
Furthermore, “Empire Of Sins” was also released in a Japanese version under Rubicon Records. To accompany the release, Silent Winter produced three captivating 3D lyric videos and a music video for the song “Shout.”
In 2022 they participated in MIDALIDARE ROCK FESTIVAL in Bulgaria with JUDAS PRIEST, in HELMFEST in Germany with ELVENKING, in RETHYMNO ROCKS with SEPTICFLESH and with MEDEN AGAN an Athens and CHRONOMANCY on Volos and Thessaloniki in January of 2023.
